Course FAQs
Everything you need to know before enrolling with Cortex Health Training
The UK is experiencing a sustained increase in ADHD referrals, with many NHS pathways reporting waiting times of 2–3 years or more.
At Cortex Health Training, we focus on delivering clinically grounded, real-world education—not just theory. Our programmes are built by practising clinicians and designed to help you develop practical confidence in assessment, diagnosis, and clinical decision-making.
You're not just learning content—you're building a skillset that is directly applicable to modern clinical practice.
Current guidance states that ADHD assessments should be carried out by a "suitably qualified practitioner."
In practical terms, this involves:
- A relevant clinical background
- Structured training in ADHD assessment and diagnosis
- Competence in recognised diagnostic frameworks
This course is designed to support that development, but clinicians must continue to work within their professional scope, governance structures, and indemnity requirements.
This programme delivers a structured, clinically relevant approach to adult ADHD, including:
- Application of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria
- Use of the DIVA-5 structured assessment
- Differentiating ADHD from overlapping psychiatric and medical conditions
- Real-world case discussions and clinical reasoning
- Report writing frameworks used in professional settings
The focus is on confidence, clarity, and safe clinical application.
Designed for regulated healthcare professionals, including:
- Pharmacist Independent Prescribers
- Doctors and Psychiatrists
- Specialist Nurses
- Allied Healthcare Professionals
All participants are responsible for ensuring they meet their own regulatory and indemnity requirements before undertaking independent clinical work.
Format: Live, interactive online training
Duration: 1 full day (approx. 8 hours)

This is a hands-on, engagement-focused session, not a passive lecture.
You will receive a CPD certificate of completion from Cortex Health Training.
This can support:
- Your CPD portfolio
- Evidence for professional development
- Documentation for appraisals or insurers
Please note: This certificate reflects training completion and does not in itself confer independent diagnostic authority.
Demand for ADHD services continues to grow across both NHS and independent sectors.
Many clinicians integrate ADHD assessments into their wider clinical practice, creating flexible and scalable income streams alongside existing roles.
Private assessment fees vary depending on experience, governance, and setting, typically ranging from £400–£1,500+ per assessment.
This course provides education and training, not a licence to practise independently. You must work within your professional scope and regulatory framework. Appropriate clinical governance, supervision, and indemnity are essential.
